Thursday
We gather together one day of the year
We clean up our bikes and don on our gear
This is not for the ride we prepare for today
It's for the honour and glory of those passed away

So we ride forth with our heads held high
To remember our brothers of days gone by
We know not their names Or from whence they came
Written by Lillian Ford aged 91
Whose Husband served in the Navy

But we stand as one and together we pray
To give our thanks for our freedom that we enjoy today
This is our remembrance day
And what we do in our own special way.

HRH Prince William

Future Foundations Appeal

nmaDuring his visit to the NMA on 24th April 2009 , HRH Prince William  agreed to be Patron of the Future Foundations Appeal. The Future Foundations Appeal has been established to generate funding for expansion of the NMA's infrastructure and enable it to become a world-renowned centre for Remembrance. It was launched on Friday 24 April by HRH Prince William during his visit to the NMA.

The £8 million Appeal will fund the building of a Veterans Pavilion to provide a venue for functions, events and acts of remembrance for the 200 military units, ex-Service groups and other interested parties to meet. It will also enable the Arboretum to expand its work to educate children nationwide in history, the environment and citizenship.
