    Army: Royal Anglian Regiment. Hostile: Shot. Killed by small arms fire in a "fierce firefight" with Taleban fighters
  • Warrant Officer Class 2 Michael Smith - 39
    Army: Royal Artillery. Hostile: Grenade attack. Killed in a grenade attack on the UK base in Sangin
  • Marine Benjamin Reddy - 22
    Royal Marines: 42 Commando. Hostile: Shot. Killed when his unit came under fire during a "clearance" operation

  • Marine Jonathan Holland - 23
    Royal Marines: 45 Commando, Whiskey Company. Landmine: Not released. Died as a result of injuries sustained during a patrol in the Sangin Valley
  • L/Cpl Mathew Ford - 30
    Royal Marines: 45 Commando. Gunshot wound: Not released. Shot while attacking an insurgent base, but unclear whether it was by 'friendly fire' or the Taliban
  • Marine Thomas Curry - 21
    Royal Marines: 42 Commando. Hostile: Shot. Died during a mission to clear Taleban positions
  • Lance Bombardier James Dwyer - 22
    Army: Royal Artillery. Landmine: Not released. Killed when his vehicle hit an anti-tank mine during a mission in the desert
  • Marine Richard Watson - 23
    Royal Marines: Royal Marines. Hostile: Shot. Killed when patrol came under attack from the Taleban
  • Marine Jonathan Wigley - 21
    Royal Marines: 45 Commando, Zulu Company. "Friendly fire": Not released. Coroner ruled that human error was partly to blame, after Marine Wigley was hit by gunfire from a US F-18 jet
  • Marine Gary Wright - 22
    Royal Marines: 45 Commando. Hostile: Suicide bomb. Died in a Snatch Land Rover following attack on military convoy
  • L/Cpl Paul Muirhead - 29
    Army: Royal Irish Regiment. Hostile: Attack. Fatally injured in Taleban attack on base on 1 September, which also killed Ranger Anare Draiva
  • L/Cpl Luke McCulloch - 21
    Army: Royal Irish Regiment. Hostile: Attack. Killed in Taleban attack on patrol, which left three other soldiers injured
  • Cpl Mark Wright - 27
    Army: Parachute Regiment. Landmine: Not released. Died when his patrol got trapped in an unmarked minefield and a rescue helicopter set off a mine.

    Army: Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Hostile: Suicide bomb. Killed in a suicide bomb attack on his Snatch Land Rover. Four Afghan civilians also died

    Army: Life Guards. Accident: Not released. Killed as he repaired a damaged Scimitar tank
